My Approach & Focus
My counseling approach is informed by attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, story work, relational psychodynamic therapy, body-informed practices, Gottman method, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am working toward specializing in betrayal trauma (a rupture of the attachment bond through secrets/deception causing intense lack of security and connection within the coupleship) and the complexities of problematic sexual behavior. We'll explore your current and past relational patterns to discover the roots of your feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. Join me in a space where fresh insights inspire change, helping you live authentically and joyfully. Today's struggles and pain are the beacons leading to a tomorrow filled with healing and freedom.
Areas of focus: Betrayal trauma, problematic sexual behavior, trauma & abuse (sexual, emotional, physical, spiritual, etc.), complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety & depression, first responder trauma/issues, relational harm and complexities, and family issues.
In our individual therapy sessions, I provide a supportive space for you to explore and process your current circumstances. Whether you are ready to delve into key aspects of your narrative that impact your present life or seek to understand your relationships more deeply, our work together will be centered around your unique journey.
We'll focus on important life moments with key relationships and cultural components that have shaped you. By understanding and exploring your emotional, spiritual, physical, mental, and communal life we can begin to pave a path towards healing.
Couples Therapy
Relationships can be incredibly fulfilling yet challenging. They offer a safe haven for healing from past wounds but can also become spaces where these wounds are unintentionally re-enacted, causing further pain and disconnection. Understanding that our ways of loving are deeply influenced by how we were taught to love, our couples therapy sessions provide a welcoming environment for sharing and respecting these narratives. Together, we will honor your individual stories, explore their impact on your relationship, and learn healthier ways to love and support each other, fostering healing and deeper connection as a couple.
*I am trained to work with the complex dynamics that need to be addressed when there has been a betrayal in the relationship (particularly from sexual betrayal where lines are crossed, boundaries are broken, and trauma is created. This betrayal can happen with pornography, infidelity, or other sexual acting out behaviors). This type of trauma within the coupleship often needs a different model to work from than traditional relationship issues.
Group Therapy
Group therapy allows individuals to explore their personal narratives in a supportive and understanding space with others. We all carry stories in our minds that shape our identities and influence our decisions, behaviors, and relationships. In group therapy, you will have the opportunity to engage with the broken parts of your story, uncover the healing presence of the divine through a supportive community, and grow in understanding yourself. This shared journey within a compassionate community cultivates acceptance, compassion, and kindness, enabling you to confront hardships and experience genuine support.
